CHURCH LEADERSHIP

Cornerstone Church started in 1989 with a Bible study in the home of Dave Royle, the founding pastor. The group grew and moved to a scout headquarters and then a school. In 2003 God wonderfully provided the finances to purchase the then Methodist building.

The founding pastor Dave Royle was called to pastor in South Africa in 1999 and Stan Smith took over as senior pastor. Stan is married to Linda who works as a nursing sister at Hope Hospital. The Smiths have two grown up sons, two married daughters and three beautiful grandchildren.

In 2008 Charlie was made an elder, he works as a research scientist during the day. He is married to Kate who is a junior doctor and our webmaster.

Ephesians 4:11-16 sums up the Biblical aim of God for the church to:

1) Grow in love for God and his people

2) Grow in the knowledge of God

3) To enable to saints to be equipped for works of ministry to both each other and the world.

"It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
