Exciting Times

I've just returned from a week's mission in the Ukraine where a team of helpers took over a school and put on fun, sport and spiritual activities for over 90 teenagers! It was weird playing volleyball at 1 O'clock in the morning. If you think it's been cold here - the Ukraine is 10 degrees colder and the snow a foot thicker! There was no hot water and the building was just warm but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. It's so true what Jesus said 'give and it will be poured back into your heart - an overflowing blessing'. We had great times with the children and many got saved and deepened their relationship with Jesus. If you are interested in going on a team this summer to the Ukraine go to the Mercy Project website for details www.mercyproject.org.uk

Someone said to me recently about a newly appointed pastor - 'he's such a great people person'. Jesus wants us to have his heart in our heart so that we all become great people persons i.e. we put great priority on loving, ministering, spending time with and enjoying people instead of material things. So lets go and copy Jesus' example of getting down and serving people, washing the dirt off their feet and get really blessed ourselves in the process!

We see the two fold aim of the ministry of God's Spirit to his people is being:

  1. To build his people up to a position of maturity and love
  2. To equip the saints for the work of ministry

At Cornerstone, we are blessed to see virtually everyone in the church serving the Lord by serving people in some capacity

Cafe

Our Sunset Cafe has been open now for 6 months. We open on a Saturday from 10-3pm and a charity shop runs along side it for people to visit. People have commented on the great quality of food and the relaxed atmosphere of the cafe. We hold outreach events in Sunset Cafe where we serve a meal and play host to an interesting speaker who tells us his life story. Peter spoke in November telling us how God met him and changed his life while in prison for murder. Our next event is on Friday March 26th at 7:30pm where we will hear from Steve, about how he coped with the death of his 7 year old son to cancer.

Youth

Our new Youth Cafe has been meeting every Monday at 7:30pm. We are reaching out to the local teenagers in a Youth Cafe setting offering a relaxed safe environment where they can play pool, table tennis or X-box games on a large screen monitor.

Our aim - TO KNOW JESUS AND TO MAKE HIM KNOWN!
